ANIMAL RIGHTS EXTREMISTS LOVE TO LIE.
At the moment they are spreading LIES That lurchers are discards of the racing industry. They are purposely trying to trick the public into thinking any abused or any abandoned lurchers are discarded greyhounds. MORE LIES.
They are saying if a greyhound is not registered to race then it’s not a classed as a greyhound. They are implying that if a greyhound is slow that it is not race registered and then referred to as a lurcher. NOT TRUE.
A litter of greyhound puppies must be registered within two weeks of birth so our puppies are registered before they can walk, before or just after they have opened their eyes. Still crawling around. They are REGISTERED greyhounds. Every pup in the litter is a registered greyhound. Previous to this the mating has been registered by the stud. At 12 weeks old they receive their ear tattoos and microchips. They are REGISTERED greyhounds.
ALL racing greyhounds are ear marked and microchipped at 12 weeks old. This is a REQUIREMENT. It is done at 12 weeks by an official. Greyhounds are only small puppies at 12 weeks and no one at this point can tell what type of racer they will be. From that moment on they have ear tattoos. Lurchers do NOT have ear tattoos. Racing greyhounds ALL have ear tattoos.
The ear tattoos clearly link every racing greyhound to their current owner and their breeder.
If you are wondering why they do this it is because VERY few greyhounds are abandoned and abused. All racing greyhounds from 12 weeks of age are instantly traceable to their owners and breeder by ear tattoos and microchips. IF these animals were being mistreated the owners could instantly be tracked by the Gardai and would be prosecuted. You can be sure Animal Rights Extremists would be shining massive lights on such cases. Because they are not finding these cases they try to dupe the public into believing other breeds are greyhounds
Being on the racing database is not what identifies greyhounds as racing greyhounds. There are many reasons greyhounds do not enter that database. What identifies our greyhounds is the fact that they are immediately registered and that they are ear tattooed and microchipped as racing greyhounds.
No ear tattoo then not a racing greyhound.
Greyhounds are highly regulated. No other dog breed in this country follows the same strict legislation
ANIMAL RIGHTS EXTREMISTS LIE FOR A LIVING. They have no regard for animals. They have no regard for WELFARE.
Animal welfare helps animals. Animal rights extremists want to eradicate all human animal interaction including farming, greyhound racing, horse racing, show jumping, equestrian sports. Classroom pets, service dogs, epilepsy dogs, police dogs, search and rescue dogs, military dogs, guide dogs, zoos, aquariums and your pets.
