Common

The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a thin greyhound
was found dumped in layby in Whitwell Common, Highwood Lane, near to a wood
called Gorse Covert.

The incident in Whitwell was reported to the RSPCA on 3rd February by a
member of the public.

The dog was microchipped and was tattooed - but the chip was only registered
to a previous owner, and no details of the new owner can be traced.

The former ex racing greyhound was around two and half years old and was
nicknamed Jamie - but her racing name was Lamars Girl.

She was grey/blue in colour.

RSPCA inspector Keith Ellis said: “While the cause of this dog’s death has
not been established at this stage, we are concerned to find her dumped in a
layby.”

“I would appeal to anyone who recognises the description of the dog, or who
may know who her current owner is as I am keen to speak to them and would
urge them to call me on the RSPCA inspector appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
